Oakhill Tiger Sharks vs St Albans   (6th November)

West were really unlucky not to clinch victory after a great second half performance where they totally dominated.  Top of the table Oakhill with the wind and rain behind them probably edged the first half, although Tom Weaver came close with a left foot shot over the bar, Stuart Cole was unlucky with a header just wide, and Scott Howlett missed a good chance.  The West defence with Jamie Heaffey and Ryan Maher working well together in the middle and looked really solid all game.  They were only caught once with a ball over the top although there was a suspicion of offside the Oakhill striker took it well.

However the best was to come, and after a stern talking to at half time West came out battling and were rewarded after just 6 minutes with a lovely curling lob from George Figg from the left over the helpless keeper into the top left hand corner.  West kept the pressure on and Oakhill were really rattled.  Chris Welch who had an excellent game in midfield was unlucky twice once from a glancing header from a corner and later when the keeper scrambled the ball off the line.

Scott had a great shot saved and Matt Peckams excellent curling effort which looked certain to go in just glanced off the post.  Jamie from just 5m from the centre circle picked up a clearance and struck it beautifully, but unfortunately for West it was right at the keeper, as he would have stood no chance anywhere else, and he was down for a good minute recovering as he was badly winded!

Matt was unlucky from a glancing header and there was at least one more scrambled effort desperately cleared by Oakhill, who only managed a few breakouts from their own half, all effectively dealt with by the West defence and Carl Biggs looked composed in goal and never really troubled.

Final Score: Oakhill Tiger Sharks 1-1 St. Albans West
