West battled really hard and won a well
deserved victory against a hard tackling Everett. West dominated from
the kick off and Tom Weaver was unlucky when he headed a flick on from
Matt Peckham just wide after a couple of minutes. It was a ball from
George Figg after 10mins that set Elliott Jay away on a long run, he
rounded the last defender and finished beautifully, leaving the diving
keeper no chance.
West must have had 10 corners in the 1st half and efforts from Tom and Matt both went just wide, so they should have been up by more at half time. The only real attack from Everett was dealt with by Joe Murtagh. However, Everett came out battling in the 2nd half and a poor clearance was punished with an excellent dipping shot which left Ross Whinnett, who was excellent in goal, no chance. West looked wobbly for a short spell until Scotts run and shot was parried by the keeper only to fall to George who made no mistake. West then battled well and a goal mouth scramble was cleared but they made it 3 when an Elliott through ball allowed Scott to whip past the last defender and slot home. Ryan Rickard was really unlucky not to make it 4 when he hit the woodwork with a well struck effort a couple of minutes before full time. A well deserved victory and the margin should probably have been a little bigger. Final Score: St Albans 3-1 Everett Red |
