St Albans vs Evergreen Juniors   (18th Sept)

A much improved performance from West gave them a comfortable first win of the season.  New keeper Martin Robinson was rarely troubled as the defence of Elliott Jay, Charlie Craigen, Ryan Maher and Stuart Cole looked rock solid in the first half.

It took 11 minutes for West to open the scoring from a George Figg corner which Charlie Rainsford tucked away.  Scott Howlett made no mistake for the second after winning a poor clearance and slotting a fine effort round the keeper.  Ryan Rickard poached a tap in from another George corner just before half time to make it 3.  West went 4 up shortly after half time when Jack Siberry buried a loose ball on the edge of the six yard box.  Jamie Heaffey made it 5 after some excellent work from Carl Biggs left him a tap in on the back post .

West only mistake then came from pushing up too many defenders and Evergreen punished them with a breakaway goal.  However West responded by proving it is possible to score with your head with one from Carl Biggs and the another from Charlie C.

Final Score: St Albans 7-1 Evergreen Juniors
