Edson Youth vs St. Albans West   (29th January)

After a  disappointing defeat last week West bounced back with a convincing win at Edson who never looked like troubling them, and had it not been for the numerous offsides from a rather flag happy linesmen it could have been a lot more.

From the start West put nine man Edson under pressure and after just 4 minutes opened the scoring when Jamie Heaffey's cross was buried by Chris Welch . Two minutes later Scott Howletts seemingly good slotted goal was disallowed for offside. Next up Stuart Cole finished a George Figg cross superbly for his first goal of the season, then Matt Peckham made it 3 with a cool one on one finish. Five minutes before half time Carl Biggs made it 4 when Matt set him up for a rare left foot goal after his shots twice rebounded.

West, although passing well, started the second half slowly until Tom Weaver set Scott away for a long run after 12 minutes and he finished well. The next goal fell to Jamie, who ran from the half way line and chipped the goalie leaving him no chance, to make it six. The last goal for West came after Ryan Rickard won the ball, beat a defender and slotted it past the keeper.  A lot of position changes maybe unsettled West a bit and allowed then to get caught off guard by Edson who took their chance well for a consolation goal.

A good team performance, but it was a bit of a breeze and should have been a lot more, however West if anything must have learned the OFFSIDE rule, even if the Edson linesmen hadn't.

Final Score: Edson Youth 1 - 7 St. Albans West
