Tornados  vs  St Albans City West (11th February)

West started very brightly passing the ball well and dominating the play.  West's first goal came from a George Figg corner which bounced around the 6 yard box until the in-form Stuart Cole stuck it away for his 3rd goal in 3 games.  This was followed by the second 5 minutes later when Adam Thornhill made a superb cross to Ryan Rickard who coolly tucked it away.

Next up was Scott Howlett whose shot rebounded off the keeper but he pounced on the rebound to slot away.  The fourth came after a great run from Elliott Jay from the defence, he fed Scott who slotted beautifully through to Jamie Heaffey who made no mistake with a great finish.  The Tornados keeper then made a brilliant save and West fired one over the bar and forced the keeper into two more saves to keep them in it.

Completely against the run of play a clearance hit a Tornados player on the arm but no hand ball was given and he ran through to score.  In the process of scoring their 1st Charlie Craigen was injured and had to come off leaving West to reorganise the central defence, and unfortunately Tornados scored again in the confusion.  West were then again cruelly punished when an attempted cross found the back of the net.

West came out fighting in the second half and in the first 10 minutes had several balls in the box but they couldn't put them away.  Scott looked to have restored the 2 goal lead but his excellent shot cannoned back off the post, had it gone in it could have been a different story as 3 minutes later Tornados equalised.  West had further chances with a good effort from distance from Ross Whinnett, and then Tom Weaver, who worked really hard went just wide after a good run.

West deserved the win and had Charlie not been injured at a critical point they probably would have.

Final Score:   Tornados  4 - 4  St. Albans City West
