Riverside Hibernian  vs  St Albans City West   (19th November)

West played really well again and put in a great team performance, and should really have taken all 3 points, but some poor decisions, and not taking their chances again cost them.

Hibs definitely started more brightly but the West defence of Adam Thornhill,
Jamie Heaffey, Ryan Maher and Stuart Cole always looked solid.  After fifteen minutes however, West started to play and there was good link up play on both wings which resulted in a great strike and goal from Greg Springall following Ryan Rickard's deft ball over the top after twenty minutes.  For the rest of the first half a spate of chances followed, with good through balls from George Figg and Elliott Jay, and excellent crosses into the box from Scott Howlett and Chris Welch, but unfortunately West did not take them. Greg also had a well taken chance disallowed for a dubious offside from an Elliott through ball.  Chris set up Carl Biggs for the best chance just before half time but he hit it low and beat the keeper, unfortunately it went just wide.

Hibs started the second half more strongly but still never got a shot on target and West constantly looked dangerous on the break, but with the linesman flag quickly up it was very difficult. West still created lots of chances but the keeper saved several shots including a good strike from Chris fifteen minutes in.  The poor decisions continued from the referee when he tried to give a penalty for a dubious hand ball after the a Hibs player had already been flagged offside, but they did score from a good cross and header from their only shot on target shortly after.  The ref (Hibs Manager!) didn't give up on trying to give his team the advantage by awarding another  penalty when the ball hit a West player in the back but justice was done when this was brilliantly saved by Alex Cobb, who had a very competent game in goal.

The game saw excellent play from the West team, but what would have been a good competitive game and West victory following the home defeat against them, was spoiled by the Hibs officials.

Final Score:   Riverside Hibernian  1 - 1  St. Albans City West
