Chorleywood Blue vs St Albans City West  (12th September)

This was another game of two halves with West getting the best of the second half but unable to score, their only goal coming right at the end of the first half from a powerful George Figg free kick that was curled round the wall beautifully.

The game started badly for West when a long range effort from Chorleywood after three minutes took a wicked bounce. This was followed by a poor bit of defending six minutes later to let them go 2-0 ahead. West then started to play football and for ten minutes it looked like they might get back in it, with shots from Greg Springall and Jamie Heaffey going just wide, and efforts from Tom Weaver, Carl Biggs and Greg all being blocked or saved. Chorleywood however, always looked the stronger and added two more before half time.

In the second half West were definitely the better team. Tom was only just wide after five minutes with a good long range effort. Greg and Scott were then unlucky with two balls over the top from Jamie after good runs, while Charlie Craigen's header went just over, and Scott went just wide after a good cross found him at the back post.

West deserved at least a goal in the second half and were solid at the back, with a good performance from Luke Jeffery, but had no luck.

Final Score:   Chorleywood Blue  4 - 1  St. Albans City West

Joint Man of Match:  Luke Jeffery and George Figg
