West looked a completely different side
this week and passed the ball sublimely at times. From the off West
put Berkhamsted under pressure with excellent link up play,
particularly on the right between George Figg and Tom Weaver. Berkhamsted
defended well but deflected one of the numerous George corners into
their own net after 8 minutes. They again knocked in a George cross 15
minutes later for their second own goal.  Ryan Rickard and Stuart Cole worked well on the left making excellent runs and passes, and Chris Welch in the middle was excellent, and constantly pressurising, but it was not until 15 minutes into the 2nd half that Greg Springall set up Ross Whinnett, whose shot looped over the Raiders keeper leaving him no chance. The 4th came when Greg was sent on a superb run by an excellent Elliott Jay through ball, and he finished clinically. Greg again made no mistake on the stroke of full time when the hard working Chris set him up for his second. The West defence were strong and
rarely troubled apart from a free kick which was brilliantly saved by
Carl Biggs. It probably could have been more but it was a great team
performance and the boys can be delighted with the way they played. Final Score: Berkhamsted Raiders 0 - 5 St. Albans City West
